Over the years I have been asked a few questions that I have found nearly everyone has when preparing for a session with me. I thought I would share the most frequently asked questions along with my answers, below. After you read them you may still have a few more of your own. I find the best way to answer those is in person, over a cup of coffee, of over the phone. Q: When should I contact you to book a session?

A: As soon as you know you are interested. My availability for sessions does tend to book about 3 months in advance, so the sooner you know the better. Booking a session consists of meeting with me in-person, or chatting over the phone before so I can learn more about you and what you are looking for. At that time, if we agree we are a good fit for each other, a paid non-refundable retainer and signed contract are due to confirm your preferred session dates.  After that point the fun begins and together we work on planning the details of your session or event that you have commissioned me to photograph!

Q: What should we wear for our photo session?

A: Well, when selecting your session day outfits, think about what your style sense is and what you envision for the shoot. I highly recommend flipping through fashion magazines, perusing Pinterest inspiration. And don't forget: from head to toe, details matter! Thoughtfully select the perfect shoes, accessories, jewelry and even layering details when putting together your outfits.

Once you have your ensembles selected, take some quick snapshots of yourself and ask others for their thoughts and opinions. From there, you can make any adjustments or narrow down your selections.

Oh, and as your photographer, I want to see pictures of your outfits, too! Not just because I'm dying to see your fabulous fashion sense ASAP, but because knowing what you'll wear helps me choose session locations as well as other session details and ideas. This is all about you and we're going to make you look, and feel, amazing!

Q:  What is included in the session fee?

A:  A typical session for up to four individuals with one hour, on-location, begins at $250. Included is my time and attention to detail as well as communication with you, as needed, in order to create a customized experience for you.

First, I will want to meet with you in-person, or over the phone if that is all time will allow. It is our time to get to know each other, of you to ask me questions about your session and for me to suggest ways that we can customize the session to fit your family ensuring that the session will result in gorgeous images that you will want to proudly display in your home. If you are booking a lifestyle session please plan on definitely meeting in-person, in your home so that we can talk about where in your home you would like to photograph your family. 

Then there’s the actual on-location session time, where I put to work my refined skills and expertise using my top of the line gear and tools, as well as my artistic point of view and knowledge in capturing the best of you, allowing me to bring out your most beautiful and authentic self.

After the session, about 2 weeks later, we will meet in-person where I will have up to 25 proofs for you to review from your session. Prints and products are available for purchase at that time. Together I will help you identify what you love and want to preserve in heirloom quality products like wall art, photo books or albums.

Q:  Do you only sell prints and products or can I also purchase digital images?

 A:  Though the end result is the most important to me, and the quality of the fine art print hanging on your walls matters, I do understand that this day in age families also like to preserve their images digitally, too. I do encourage families to invest in and order fine art prints from me to display in their homes because, let’s be honest, life is busy. If you were to receive only digital images from me that you save to your computer, how likely would you be to actually get them printed, framed and hung on your walls within a reasonable time frame, or ever? Images saved to your computer's hard drive will not show the value in the time you took and invested in a session with a professional photographer, but gorgeous fine art canvases, framed prints or a custom designed photo book resting on your coffee table absolutely will. Think about the future of your family and having something to pass on to your children, and your children's children. That's what a session with me is all about. Preserving your family's history in gorgeous heirloom quality prints and products.

So, to answer your question, yes I do have digital packages available, but I much rather deliver you a fine art print that is heirloom quality for you to look at, enjoy and share with your loved ones in your home or office everyday.

Q:  How long will it take for my prints and products to be delivered.

A:  The timeline from ordering to delivery does depend on the time of year, as well as what you order. If your session is scheduled in May 1-November 1 my delivery for prints and other wall art is typically 3-4 weeks from the order date. If you are ordering a custom designed photo book or album the delivery time is typically 4-6 weeks from the order date, taking into consideration the added time needed to design the layout of your book or album. Off-season orders can expect to be a little quicker. When an order is placed, no mater the time of year, you will always be given a definite time frame for delivery.  Special arrangements can be made for a faster delivery when needed.
