On January 18, 2018 beautiful Veronica was born to the sweetest couple ever, Jenna and Louis. Let me start by saying she has a fantastic birthdate, 1.18.18. She's already begun her life with something cool to talk about! She's destined for a great life!
I first met Jenna and Louis when they hired me to photograph their February 2014 wedding. You can click here to see the photo journal of highlights from their winter wedding! Their story is adorable, they met and dated in high school, stayed together through college, while they began their careers and bought their first home. Now they are a happily married couple with a blessing of a baby girl, surrounded by a wonderful family and friends. I am so honored to be the photographer they have asked to capture some important parts of their life story.
For those that might be reading this and are interested in a newborn lifestyle session, a little something you should know is newborn sessions are long, they can take anywhere from two to three hours, and I love every single second of it. Little newborn babies are not always exactly ready to have their pictures taken, sometimes they need to be nursed, changed, or just held for a bit. I love when I get to give the new parents a break and hold their little one. Actually, right when I arrive the first thing I usually do is ask to hold the baby. I've had three babies of my own, and it's so nice to slow down and see those tiny little faces, delicate little fingers, hear little baby noises. In those little moments of rest between poses and photos it can be the perfect time to swap stories, share tips and tricks on soothing newborns. I do have a few tricks up my sleeve after going through my own experience as a new mommy that I love to share when the time comes. This is more than just getting right to work when I arrive, for me, it’s an experience. Though I do want to move things along, as the baby allows, I am never in a rush. Another thing to know is they do not have to happen right away when the baby is first born. They can, but they do not have to. I actually prefer the baby to be a few weeks old, and at times that allows me to capture a moment with their new bright eyes wide open. Veronica certainly gave us quiet a few moments like that, as you will see below.
I have said this before and I will say it again, what I love most about newborn lifestyle sessions is the fact that I am given the opportunity to document a family and their environment of that time, in their home. We all know the saying there's no place like home. It's true. There is also no place like a fresh, newly decorated nursery space created and loved by the expecting family. The details within that space are so precious. They will change over time, sometimes sooner than expected and a lifestyle session gives families a way to always remember those first days as a new family, or in some cases a growing family.
Below are the images that Jenna and Louis loved the most from their Maternity session we had in mid-November, as well as from their Newborn Lifestyle session, plus a few extras that I just had to share here in this blog. Hang on to your hats folks, it's a long one, but so worth your time browsing through every beautiful image and every beautiful moment. I promise.
Congratulations to the Jenna, Louis and the rest of Veronica's family! Enjoy your sweet girl! I look forward to seeing her again mid-year to document how much she has changed and grown!
